Firm to make Dunlop tires

JAKARTA (JP): PT Summi Rubber Indonesia, a joint venture
between Japan's Sumitomo Group and Indonesia's Indomobil Group,
is scheduled to begin production of Dunlop tires in Indonesia in
April 1997.

The tire factory, now under construction in Cikampek, West
Java, is scheduled to be finished next year, the company said in
a statement yesterday.

The firm's parent company, Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. of
Japan, has taken over the manufacturing of Dunlop tires in
Britain, France, Germany and the United States. (jsk)
