Fireworks seized from warehouse

DENPASAR, Bali: Six people, including a soldier, were arrested in a raid on a warehouse illegally used to keep fireworks in the Kediri area, some 12 kilometers west of here on Wednesday.

Police seized six large boxes of firecrackers and a car believed to be used to transport the firecrackers, Bali Police spokesman Lt. Col. Y. Suyatmo said.

Suyatmo identified the soldier as Corp. Suk.

"We handed over Suk to the military police right away."

The warehouse owner, identified as Nur Hasan, was among the six arrested during the operation. The warehouse owner did not have a permit to run such a business, Suyatmo said.

Nur Hasan admitted he started the business two years ago, and the firecrackers were brought from Surabaya, East Java, at Rp 6,000 per small pack, which he sold for Rp 8,000 each. (zen/sur)
