Fireworks banned during Ramadhan

BENGKULU: Traders in Bengkulu are strictly prohibited from selling firecrackers during the holy month of Ramadhan, which begins mid-October, a senior police officer said on Saturday.

The firecrackers could endanger people and disturb the peace during the holy month, said spokesman of Bengkulu Police Comr. Dedi Jumadi.

"We will hold random raids, seize the firecrackers and punish traders who are caught selling firecrackers during the holy month of Ramadhan," said Dedi. -- Antara
