Firecrackers explode at general's house

YOGYAKARTA: A bundle of firecrackers exploded late on Thursday in front of a house in Sleman regency belonging to an Air Force general. No fatalities were reported.

Suminah, the elder sister of Rear Marshall Joko Waluyo, who was staying in the house, described on Friday the explosion as loud, leaving a cloud of smoke, shattered windows and damage to a rolling door in its wake.

She said that she had been staying in the house alone at the time of the explosion. Sleman Police detectives chief Adj. Comr. Tri Wahyudi confirmed that the explosion had been caused by firecrackers and that the police were investigating the case. -- JP
