Fire razes six houses
JAKARTA (JP): Fire razed six houses at dawn yesterday in a Public Works Ministry housing complex in Ciputat, South Jakarta.
The fire was suspected to have been caused by a candle. The South Jakarta fire brigade managed to put it out around 4 a.m.
Helen, an eyewitness, told The Jakarta Post that she lit the candle after an electricity black out and did not put it out when she went to bed.
"I was awaken by the heat. I saw the fire had already burnt a book and my desk," Helen said.
She later ran for safety. (01)
