Fire razes disputed bungalows
DENPASAR, Bali: Midday fire destroyed six of nine uninhabited bungalows in Jimbaran, near here, on Thursday.
Kuta police subprecinct chief Capt. Made Astawa said strong wind and the fragility of the buildings had helped the fire to spread. It took fire fighters around two hours to douse the flames.
Astawa said the bungalows, managed by the Jimbaran Club, had been uninhabited for eight years due to a legal dispute over their ownership.
"Not to mention house keeping, no tourist has stayed at the bungalow until now," Astawa said. Grass and bushes filled most of the space in the tourist resort.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire. zen)
