Fire razes areas in Greater Jakarta

JAKARTA: Fire hit three different neighborhoods of Greater Jakarta on Monday evening.

No casualties reported in any of the incidents.

The first incident took place at about 6:30 p.m. at the house of Wahyu Handoko in Sawangan, Depok, which spread to over a dozen neighboring houses.

At 7 p.m., the house of Arif Wijanarko in Tanah Kedaung housing complex in Pamulang, Tangerang, also caught fire.

City Police said both fires were caused by short circuits.

The third fire took place at about 7:30 p.m. at a motorcycle repair and gasoline shop belonging to Bisgel, 33, of Karang Bahagia area in Bekasi.

The fire also razed all the buildings nearby.

The police said they were still calculating losses incurred in the fires.-- JP
