Fire razes 50 houses in Tebet

JAKARTA: About 50 families lost their homes to fire, on Jl. Tebet Raya, South Jakarta, on Thursday.

"The fire was reported at 3:10 p.m. A total of 24 fire trucks were deployed to the location. The firefighters eventually managed to extinguish the fire at around 6:45 p.m.," an officer of the Jakarta Fire Department said.

According to a Tebet district official, the fire was suspected to have started when a stove exploded.

Material losses have yet to be determined, while the case is being handled by Tebet Police Subprecinct. -- Antara
