Fire inflicts Rp 1m in losses

CILACAP, Central Java: A fire destroyed a three-story electronic goods shop on Jl. Raya Diponegoro here, causing Rp 1 million in losses. No fatalities were reported.

Eyewitnesses said the fire started about 7 p.m. Tuesday, and the fire brigade managed to put it out nine hours later.

Majenang police chief, Lt. Andi Setiyono, said the cause of the fire was being investigated.

Most of the building's goods belonging to Toni, a local businessman, were destroyed in the fire, he said.

A heavy downpour helped fire fighters put out the blaze. (wah/sur)
