Fire guts toy warehouse

Fire gutted a toy warehouse in Tegal Alur subdistrict, near the Kamal exit on the airport toll road in West Jakarta, on Monday.

No fatalities were reported in the incident, which began at about 6 p.m. An official with the Jakarta Fire Department, Mardjoko, said the department deployed 14 trucks to the scene.

"The fire was put out at about 8 p.m. The fire destroyed the two-story building but did not spread to nearby buildings," he said.

Hawari, an employee at toll road operator PT Jasa Marga, said the fire caused a backup near the Kamal exit as motorists slowed down to get a look at the scene. -- JP
