Fire guts house, three kiosks
JAKARTA: A house and three kiosks owned by a man identified as Bahrudin on Jl. Abdul Majid in Cipete, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, were destroyed by fire on Thursday night. No fatalities were reported.
Police said two security guards at the Cipete subdistrict office first spotted the blaze and reported it to the owner of the kiosks.
Eight fire trucks were deployed to the scene, and residents also helped fight the fire, which was extinguished at about 8 p.m.
Police suspect the fire was caused by a short circuit in Bahrudin's house. Kebayoran Baru Police are investigating the case, but have yet to provide an estimate of the material losses. -- JP
