Fire guts 118 pine trees

BOGOR: Fire destroyed at least 118 pine trees located in a 500-square- meter?? wood in Cikoneng hamlet, North Tugu village, Cisarua district, Bogor regency, on Tuesday.

Forest guard Ateng Sutisna said that the fire started at 3 p.m. and was extinguished by 8:30 p.m. by local residents.

He said that a preliminary investigation showed that before the incident, three people had entered the wood to seek honey. It was alleged that one of them smoked a cigarette and threw away a burning butt, which later caused the fire. --JP
