Fire destroys warehouses

JAKARTA (JP): A fire gutted three warehouses and a factory at Pulogadung Industrial Estate, Cakung, East Jakarta.

The factory was unoccupied at the time so no one was hurt.

City Police Spokesman Maj. Nyoman Suriasta said the fire, which began 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, started in PT Imarindo's jelly factory.

"The losses have yet to be calculated. The fire was probably caused by a short circuit in the factory," Nyoman said.

He said the warehouses belonged to food distributor PT Marga Nusantara Jaya, drug distributor PT Sinar Intermark and farm products distributor PT Jeta Farm.

Firefighters extinguished the fire at 3 a.m yesterday. (jun)
