Fire damages market in Ciputat

More than 100 kiosks in the Jombang traditional market in Ciputat, Tangerang, were destroyed by fire on Tuesday evening. The owner of three kiosks in the market was quoted as saying by Elshinta radio the fire began at about 6:30 p.m., allegedly the result of a short circuit. The fire was extinguished by firefighters at about 10 p.m. Police are investigating the incident and have estimated that damage from the fire could reach hundreds of millions of rupiah. -- JP
