Fire agency chief dies

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Chief of the municipal fire agency here,
Malon Simanjuntak, died on Thursday after two days of medical
treatment for injuries he sustained while on duty.

Malon was one of four fire fighters injured when two fire
engines collided while rushing to the same burning building in
early hours on Tuesday. The rare accident occurred on Jl. Palang
Merah.

Among the mourners was Medan Mayor Bachtiar Djafar and
secretary of the mayoralty Amri Tambunan, who both visited
Malon's house on later Thursday to pay condolence. (39)
