Finding the best possible leader

I was thrilled to see the orangutans make it to the front page these last couple of days, in spite of the depressing circumstances.

Recent coverage in The Jakarta Post of the plight of orangutans and other endangered primates is certainly timely, along with the excellent letter from David Jardine on Nov. 7 and also the editorial on Nov. 5, all goes to hoping that some consciences will become "jogged".

I thought, maybe, while everyone "hums" and "hahs" about who should be the next president, a simple survey of who does not have a caged creature in their backyard may give us a better idea of the man (or woman) who has the moral decency and integrity to lead this country into the future.
