Find longevity in Semarang

JAKARTA (JP): Wanna live longer? Move to Semarang in Central
Java. At least the statistics look good.

The chief of the city's health office, Imam Soebekti, said
that the average life expectancy in Semarang has jumped from 61.7
years to a whopping 71 in only four years.

This is far above the national average of 62.7 years.

Imam attributed this improvement to the successful development
of the city's health system.

Over the last four years Semarang has added two new general
hospitals to the 10 it already had; four more maternity hospitals
to the previous 21; 18 private clinics to the 100 already in
existence; six community health centers to the previous 24, and
24 more drugstores to the 93 it had in 1990. (emb)
