Final farewell to Delly Rollies
JAKARTA: Fans, friends and relatives bid a final farewell on Thursday to pop star Delly Joko Arifin, better known as Delly Rollies, who died at the age of 53 on Wednesday.
He was buried at the Tanah Kusir cemetery in South Jakarta. The vocalist and keyboardist for The Rollies died of a heart attack at his home in Tebet, South Jakarta. He is survived by four children from three wives.
Delly last performed with the group in a "reunion" show for their 35th anniversary at the Pasir Putih Cafe in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Oct. 11, and again on Oct. 28 on TVRI's Blues Night.
The group made an appearance on Indosiar's popular quiz show Siapa Berani on Tuesday. The show featured The Rollies and other '70s bands D'Lloyd, Pretty Sisters and Gypsy.
The Rollies -- Bangun Sugito (lead vocals), Delly (vocals/keyboards), Iskandar Iwan Trisnawan (guitar), Benny Likumahua (trombone), Didiet Maruto (trumpet), Uce F. Tekol (bass) and Jimmy Manopo (drums) -- was famous for hits like Kau yang Kusayang (You I love), Kemarau (Dry season), Salam Terakhir (Last Greeting) and Setangkai Bunga (A Flower Stalk).--JP
