Filipino hoopsters to play here

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) is cooperating with the Philippines Basketball Association (PBA) to hold a game between two PBA clubs in Jakarta on Sunday.

Clubs Shell Turbo Charger and Talk n Text Phone Pals are scheduled to play at BRItama Arena Sportmall, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

"We will be able to see our neighbor's compete here. We want to inspire players, referees and others here (to recognize) that basketball can become an industry," IBL director Agus A. Mauro said on Thursday.

The PBA game, along with one between the A Mild IBL selection team with the Indonesian team for the 2005 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games, is part of the preparation for the 2005 A Mild IBL competition, which starts on March 9. -JP
