The recent rape and murder of a female student that took place
in Bogor, West Java, and other forms of violence in society are
apparently the result of the increasing availability of
pornographic shows. Pornographic films are shown on television
and cinemas and pornographic pictures are printed in some
publications.

In this context, we, a religious propagation and education
agency, ask the Department of Information and the Film Censor
Board to take the following actions:

* To ban both foreign and domestic pornographic films.

* To withdraw the publication license of any publishing house
that prints pornographic pictures.

* To ask television stations not to screen indecent films.

* Ask film producers to produce films which contain
educational values and national struggles, free of pornographic
flavor.
