Festive season security in Bogor
BOGOR (JP): In a move to maintain security and order over the Christmas, New Year and Idul Fitri celebrations, Bogor Police will make the security of places of worship a top priority.
"We will deploy reliable officers to secure places of worship and anticipate possible disputes," Bogor Police chief Lt. Col. Ade Husen said on Monday.
"We hope Christians can have a peaceful celebration, and those who plan to celebrate New Year can do so without disrupting others," he added.
Police are also coordinating the security of nightspots with their management.
"We have asked them to be alert and notify the authority immediately if there are any violations such as drug dealing or prostitution."
Separately, Bogor City Police chief Lt. Col. Toto Adi Kuncoro said that 1,044 personnel would be deployed in an annual operation codenamed "Operation Candle" to secure Christmas and New Year.
"They are assigned to this operation from today (Monday) up until Jan. 3," he added. (21/edt)
