Festival to show virtues of recycling

JAKARTA (JP): The City Recycling Agency in cooperation with
three women's organizations in Jakarta will hold a series of
events, including discussions and bazaars, on garbage recycling
issues over three days beginning Wednesday.

The organizer of the committee, Mrs. Fauzi Bowo, wife of the
City Secretary, said on Monday that the event was aimed at
promoting the importance of garbage recycling and at attracting
public interest in such environmentally beneficial activities.

The event will be held at the Nyi Agung Serang Women's Hall in
Kuningan, South Jakarta.

"Hopefully, the event will be a bridge for the Jakarta
administration and the public to jointly establish an Indonesian
recycling business center," she said.

Jakartans are invited to take the opportunity to display their
used items at the festival, called the Festival Daur Ulang 2000.
