Festival honors food and fashion writing

JAKARTA: The month-long Jakarta Fashion & Food Festival (JFFF) concluded at Mal Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Wednesday with awards for outstanding pieces of journalism on food and fashion.

For fashion, Kompas daily's May 23 article Menjadi Tuan Rumah di Negeri Sendiri (To be a Host in One's Own Country) won first prize, with The Jakarta Post's Show Goes on Despite Behind the Scenes Issues from the June 6 edition finishing second.

For the popular food category, Femina magazine took first place with Heboh Jajan dari Pagi Hingga Malam (Hectic Eating from Morning to Night). Bisnis Indonesia came second with Gaya Hidup Impor Kian Ngejreng (Imported Lifestyles Continue to be Cool) from its Feb. 15 edition.

Winners were chosen based on the strength of the title, story creativity and materials, as well as the size and positioning of the article.

First-prize winners were awarded Rp 3 million and a Rp 300,000 shopping voucher, with second-place winners receiving Rp 1.5 million and a Rp 300,000 voucher. -- JP
