Fery's release delayed

LANGSA, Aceh: The release of RCTI cameraman Fery Santoro and around 100 civilians held hostage by Free Aceh Movement (GAM) rebels, which was planned for Thursday, has been postponed for a few days.

A spokesman of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Hendrasmo, said on Wednesday the release had been postponed for "technical reasons."

The statement was made following a meeting earlier in the day between ICRC officials and the Indonesian Military (TNI) at the Iskandar Muda Military Command Headquarters in Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh. -- JP
