Female painters focus on Betawi

JAKARTA: Dozens of paintings by members of the Indonesian Female Painters Association (IWPI) are on display at the Seni Mitra Budaya building on Jl. Tanjung, in Menteng, Central Jakarta -- from Friday to Tuesday -- to commemorate Jakarta's 477th anniversary.

The exhibition features the works of, among other artists, Yuriah Tanzil, Wiwiek Sumitro, Kartini Sabekti, Jenniaty Djuadi, Yenny Mahastuti, Inne Sarlono, Yetty NR, Sri Robustina, Sri Yunnah and Rukmini Yusuf. The paintings depict Betawi (native Jakartan) culture.
