Female journalists harrased

SEMARANG: Three female journalists were harassed Friday when covering rallies of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan). Sonya Hellen from Kompas said they had shown their identity cards but the crowds kept molesting them. Sonya, along with Irene Irawati from Suara Bangsa daily and Rahayu Mulyaningsih of Solo Pos then reported to the Provincial Elections Committee, the local Supervisory Elections Committee and the provincial headquarters of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan).

Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan here, Ismoyo, said he apologized on behalf of the party to the journalists. (har)
