Fedex's service

I received a long-awaited package from England, entrusted to the usually reliable Fedex, recently. Unfortunately the package was all I received, the contents having been swiped somewhere en route. The original Fedex box had, in fact, been replaced by a different box bearing a different waybill number and filled merely with a plastic bag. The original waybill receipt was nowhere to be found.

If you can't trust Fedex then who can you trust? Quite apart from the mere financial and time-consuming inconvenience that this episode has caused me so far, is the pointlessness of what it was that was stolen. In this case a videotape of no commercial value but of immense personal importance; a tape that was going to feature as an art installation at my photo-exhibition being held in Jakarta this week.

Could it be that Fedex Indonesia is not in control of its own deliveries door-to-door? If so then who are they contracting their local deliveries out to. Until either my video is located or adequate compensation has been made by Fedex, I will feel compelled to exhibit the empty box -- along with an explanation for its inclusion -- in my show.
