FedEx offers Americans ballot delivery

JAKARTA: FedEx Express, one of the world's largest express transportation companies, is ready to provide free election ballot delivery for Americans here to participate in the November elections.

It said the offer was also open to all non-resident U.S. citizens currently residing in China as well as the North Pacific and South Pacific regions.

"Ballots can be dropped off from now until Nov. 1, 2002 at FedEx Express World Service Centers, FedEx Express Stations, U.S. consulates and embassies and participating American Clubs, for collection within regular local cut-off times," the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Americans in Indonesia could drop off their ballots at FedEx World Service Centers in Jakarta (Casablanca, RPX Center, Kebon Jeruk, Cikarang, Grogol, Mulia Center, Pakubuwono, Mangga Dua, Cakung) and Banten (Tangerang, EDC Cengkareng); 13 branches in Java (Puwakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, Malang, Gresik), Bali (Denpasar, Ubud) and Sumatra (Medan, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Batam)m, it said.

"The ballot program ensures that U.S. citizens can cast their votes conveniently and reliably using FedEx Express services", the statement said, quoting David Cunningham, president of the company's Asia Pacific division. --JP
