FedEx golf league tees off on Friday

JAKARTA: The FedEx golf league, an annual corporate golf competition which dates back to 1996, will start its 2002 season on Friday when the opening round is staged at the Bogor Raya Golf Club.

The league incorporates a series of six golf events played over a four-month period, with 26 four-player corporate teams competing against each other.

"The league is a unique event, combining fun and the challenge of playing golf on some of the best courses in Asia, with the serious business of increasing contacts among like-minded corporate people," Alan Clarke, from the organizing committee, told a press conference here on Wednesday.

The league will culminate at the Jagorawi Golf & Country Club on July 26. --JP
