Fast fighter

RENO, NEVADA: British fighter pilot Andy Green wrote his name in the history books when he became the fastest man on four wheels last Thursday.

Green drove former titleholder Richard Noble's jet-powered Thrust at an average of 1,143kmh, about 129kmh faster than Noble's 14-year-old record.

The team plans to push ahead with its bid to go just 64kmh faster and break the speed of sound, the last great automotive frontier.
