Family robbed by seven men

TANGERANG (JP): Seven armed men broke into a businessman's house at Jl. Sasmita 30, Grendeng subdistrict, Karawaci, Tangerang and left with valuables and cash early on Friday morning after tying up the family.

Tangerang Police chief Insp. Sumanto said the family of Sukirta, 43, suffered at least Rp 30 million in losses.

Sukirta's wife Sudhawati, 42, said at the crime scene that the men entered the house after breaking down the front door.

Sudhawati said she tried to call her neighbor on her cellular phone but there was no reply.

She said the robbers tied up her, her husband, mother Santawati and daughter Monica and took their two television sets, four cellular phones, jewelry and Rp 2 million in cash.

She added the men left in a minivan. She said the robbers did not injure any member of the family because the family did not resist them.(01)
