Family planning training starts
JAKARTA: A two-week training course on empowering women in reproductive health and family planning started on Monday at the National Family Planning Board (BKKBN) office in Jakarta.
The training, called Partners Global Leadership Program with Special Focus on Women Empowerment in Reproductive Health/Family Planning Program, is being organized by BKKBN and the Secretariat of Partners in Population and Development: A South-South Initiative.
Over the next two weeks, participants from Indonesia, Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines and Thailand will talk about issues related to reproductive health, family planning, women's issues and share with each other experiences in implementing family planning in each country.
BKKBN secretary Lalu Sudarmadi, who officially opened the course, said that such cooperation among developing countries was more effective than that with developed countries due to the similarities among developing countries. --JP
