Fakfak facing transport isolation

FAKFAK, Irian Jaya: The Fakfak regency faces isolation as
Twin Otters owned by the Merpati Nusantara Airlines will not be
operating for a week while KM Rinjani, a passenger ship operated
by state-owned PT Pelni, is undergoing an annual docking.

Umar Alkatiri who routinely flies the Twin Otters to the
regency complained that he was forced to cancel several
activities in his company in Fakfak because of the absence of
transportation facilities.

Umar, a staffer at the local transmigration ministry office,
said that a team of the government audit agency has postponed
their visit to the regency following state Merpati airline
company's announcement.
