Factors that cause rape

The incidence of rape in our society is increasing. As we can see, in the newspaper and on TV, this is not just happening in our country, but in foreign countries as well. On average, there are more than three cases of rape each day.

Here, people are used to blaming men for rape. However, in my opinion, women are also responsible. These days, women tend to wear sexy clothes in the wrong place and at the wrong time -- which can cause men to rape women. Indonesia is an eastern country, so its people hold eastern values.

They find it hard to adapt to western values, while some of these women hold western values, which we can see from the way they dress.

Another contributing factor is the number of pornographic VCDs that are widely available -- even to children. Of course, these may also incite men to rape women. A child could even rape another child.

In conclusion, the government should be more strict. Otherwise, the number of rape cases will continue to rise. Also, schools must impose new rules on students. For instance, students should not be allowed to wear tight uniforms, which would teach them to dressing properly. It is essential that students adopt high moral standards. So, schools should include moral education -- such as religious studies and health studies -- in their curriculums.
