Extra-judicial execution in UK

The news that the British police carried out what was in effect an extra-judicial execution of an unarmed Brazilian in the sweep for those responsible for the London bomb outrages is for me as a British citizen both appalling and saddening.

We British always prided ourselves on the fact that the police were unarmed (except for a rather effective cosh called a truncheon) and now we must know we have passed a point of no return.

The bombers and their backers are probably laughing. They have won another victory. And why would they care that an innocent has been killed while they are on the run?

What next? "Shot whilst trying to escape"? We are in an Orwellian nightmare.
