Expo, film on Nehru and Sukarno
JAKARTA: A three-day historical exhibition and film about former Indian prime minister Nehru and former president Sukarno will open on Saturday at the National Archives Building on Jl. Gajah Mada 111, West Jakarta.
The exhibition of over 60 photographs, personal letters and newspaper articles from 1947 to 1950 show how the two nations supported each other during their struggles for independence. They record the visits of Sukarno to India, when India achieved independence, and Nehru to Indonesia, and also how the two leaders sought to build the Nonaligned Movement through the Asia Africa Conference in Bandung in 1955.
The pictures of Asia's most important historical figures, including former vice president Mohammad Hatta former Indian prime ministers Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi, will be presented in the exhibition.
There will also be a short documentary film.--JP
