Explosion at Kendari office

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: An explosive device was hurled by an unidentified man at the Kendari Attorney General's Office here on Friday night causing minor damage to the office's compound.

No casualties were reported in the blast, which occurred at around 7:50 p.m. local time.

Antara reported witnesses as saying that a "short chubby" man wearing a white t-shirt hurled the device from outside the compound.

The blast left a 25 meter crater in front of the office.

Kendari Police Chief Adj. Comm. Heru Indrabudi said that other witnesses saw the man hurl something shaped like a bottle.

He could not speculate on the motive behind the incident.
