Experts to discuss global security

JAKARTA: Turkey will hold an international conference on democracy and global security in Istanbul next week, the Turkish embassy in Indonesia announced in Jakarta.

The conference will be held from June 9 to 11 at the Conrad Hotel in Istanbul.

"The conference aims to bring together specialists from academia, law enforcement and media to discuss from a global perspective, balancing safety, security measures, anti-terrorism efforts, peacemaking initiatives, human rights and social justice issues," the embassy said.

Ministers of the interior, national police chiefs, and police chiefs from the capitals from 92 countries would participate in the three-day conference, it said. -- JP
