Experts study Timor history

DILI, East Timor: Australian historian Peter G. Spillet will
be conducting a study on the history of Timor island together
with the University of East Timor next month.

Jorge da Conceicao Teme, a university staff member involved in
the project, said the team is currently studying the methodology
of the research, Antara reported.

Spillet was in town recently to brief volunteers, mostly
students, on the methodology of the study, Jorge said.

These volunteers will be compiling the island's history which
has been largely passed verbally from generation to generation,
he said.

The study will be from the prehistoric era up to the end of
World War II, he added. (emb)
