Expatriates renovate elementary school

BOGOR: A group of expatriates have renovated state elementary school Cipicung 05 in Ledeng village, Cijeruk district, Bogor regency.

Besides renovating the classrooms, the expatriates also built a library and a basketball court.

"We will soon equip the school with sports facilities," project coordinator Herdiana Kiehl said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post.

The inauguration of the school was held on June 18 and was attended by officials from the local administration and donors, mainly from Rotary Club Menteng Jakarta.

"We invite others to participate in renovating schools to increase the quality of education in the country .... As we know, there are at least 100,000 schools in poor condition," Kiehl said. -- JP
