Expansion at Bali airport

JAKARTA (JP): The expansion of facilities at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, is expected to be completed in June.

Project head Widjaya Lagha said the work was funded by the Japanese Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund, which provided Rp 105 billion (US$14 million).

"About 92 percent of the project activities have been completed, including the development of new departure and arrival gates for international flights and the renovation of the existing terminal," he was quoted by Antara as saying.

He said the project, which started in February 1998, was focused on developing new facilities, including a passenger terminal, cargo center, apron, check-in counters, power station, in addition to renovations of facilities. (cst)
