EVs charge ahead

DETROIT: The electric march rolls on... Ford and Honda in the United States have gone into partnership offering increased access to electric vehicle charging.

They also plan to foster more widespread use of electric vehicles.

Each is contributing toward a matching fund that would help finance electric vehicle public charging stations at locations including shopping malls, airports and parking garages. Areas which research shows are the most likely "refueling" sites for EVs.

For the most part, these locations will be in California. New York and Arizona are also considerations.

Both companies are also promoting a common public charging station technical standard, so the charging equipment will be compatible with all electric cars.
