Evi wins Anniswati rapid games
JAKARTA: Evi Lindiawati won the rapid matches during the Anniswati Memorial Cup women's chess tournament in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Evi, 17, from Jakarta, collected 8 points from nine rounds, winning in seven rounds and drawing in the remaining two. Her draws came from her pairings against Upi D. Tamin and Suharyani.
Former Asian champion Upi, who was beaten in the last round on the day, had to be content with second place on 7 points. Trihoni and Imasniti shared third place on 6.5 points.
The 36 players in the tournament will continue to play another nine rounds of conventional chess matches until Sunday. Conventional chess allows 90 minutes of thinking time, compared to 25 minutes in the rapid games. --JP
