EVA Air adds services

JAKARTA (JP): Taiwan's EVA Air will increase flights from Surabaya, in East Java, to Taipei from Saturday.

EVA Air's representative in Jakarta, Peter Chen, said yesterday that the carrier currently links Surabaya and Taipei via Kaohsiung three times per week.

"In addition to the service every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, EVA Air will serve the Surabaya-Kaohsiung-Taipei route on Saturdays throughout the winter until next February," he said.

The additional flight, using Boeing B-767 aircraft, will enable passengers to connect with a flight to Los Angeles in the United States without staying overnight in Taipei, he said.

The extra flight will depart from Surabaya every Saturday at 2.35 p.m and arrive in Taipei at 10.30 p.m. A flight to Los Angeles will depart at 11.55 p.m. from Taipei and arrive at 7.20 p.m. on the same day.

EVA Air, owned by the Evergreen Group, currently flies to Jakarta, Denpasar in Bali, and Surabaya from Taipei and Kaohsiung.

Chen said EVA Air will consider continuing the additional service from Surabaya if the load factors are promising. (icn)
