European tourists visit Central Java

SEMARANG: Some 338 tourists from Europe are scheduled to arrive at Tanjung Emas seaport in the Central Java capital of Semarang on Thursday.

After arriving at the seaport, the tourists will visit prime tourist destinations in the province, namely Borobudur Temple in Magelang regency and the Train Museum in Semarang regency.

"The arrival of a large number of tourists from Europe is the first after four years," said Agus Suyono, the head of the Central Java Tourism Office, on Wednesday.

The tourists were keen to visit Central Java province after they heard that the situation in Indonesia had returned to normal.

Indonesia has been rocked by communal violence and bomb attacks in the past few years, but the situation has been relatively peaceful since last year. -- JP
