EU observers back in town
JAKARTA: The European Union team of election observers are returning to the country to observe the presidential elections on July 5.
Sixty-eight observers rejoined the mission's core team of a dozen election experts, who arrived in Indonesia at the end of February to observe the April 5 legislative election.
The European Union is projected to have a total of 230 observers, making it the largest election observation mission ever developed.
The observers, led by Glyn Ford, will monitor most of Indonesia's election preparations, including campaigns, the work of poll organizers, watchdogs and the media.
After the voting, they will observe the vote counting and the handling of possible complaints and appeals. -- JP
