EU anti-dumping discussed

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Trade and the European Commission are organizing a series of seminars on the European Union's new anti-dumping legislation this week to help Indonesian businessmen get acquainted with it.

The head of the commission's representation in Indonesia, Ambassador Klauspeter Schmallenbach, said in a statement that after holding a one-day seminar in Jakarta yesterday, the two institutions will organize similar meetings today in Surabaya, East Java, and in Medan, North Sumatra, on Thursday.

He said the speakers at the seminars will discuss the union's anti-dumping policy within the context of a free and fair multilateral trading system.

Some improvements in the anti-dumping regulation have been introduced, regarding the aspects of dumping margin calculations, minimum margins and import volumes, efficiency of measures as well as rights of parties, including that on legal review.

The new legislation reflects changes in accordance with the World Trade Organization agreement, he added. (kod)
