Essay writing winners announced

JAKARTA: Indra Refipal Sembring, a student from the Bogor Institute of Agriculture, and Khalifany Ash Shadiqi, a student from SMU 8 state high school in Yogyakarta, have won the 2004 essay writing contest on Korea held by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of National Education.

The first and second winners in their respective category are scheduled to visit South Korea for field study for one week in May 2005.

The contest organizers received 2,092 essays, 1,346 of them composed by university students.

Initiated in 1995, the contest is aimed at strengthening ties between South Korea and Indonesia. -- JP
