Erasmus to hold photo exhibition
JAKARTA (JP): Erasmus Huis Dutch cultural center is to hold a photo exhibition from Aug. 7 to Aug. 18 on the works of 85 children of varied backgrounds.
The children are inhabitants of Bantar Gebang rubbish dump in East Jakarta, residents of Desa Putera orphanage in East Jakarta and students of the Netherlands International School.
Caretaker Minister of Settlements and Regional Infrastructure Erna Witoelar is scheduled to open the exhibition.
Erasmus Huis said in a media release that the children used disposable cameras to make images of their daily lives.
The photos have been published in a book titled My Life in Indonesia, which can be obtained at the cultural center or at www.nis.or.id website.
Profits from book sales will be donated to education programs for the children living at the rubbish dump.
