Epileptic woman drowns in river

JAKARTA (JP): A 20-year-old woman who drowned in the Kali Sentiong river in Tangerang two days ago was identified on Friday as Supiah.

Nina, 60, the victim's mother, said that Supiah usually roamed around the Balaraja area, yelling and talking to herself, and then came back in the afternoon.

"But she did not return home on Wednesday. When we were looking for her the next day, police told us they had fished out an unidentified woman from the river," Nina said at the morgue of Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.

Nina, accompanied by her husband Sarmadi, said their daughter had married twice and had lost her self-control during the second marriage.

She added that her youngest of eight in the family had suffered from epilepsy since she was a child.

"It was likely that she had an epileptic attack when she was playing at the river."

Forensic examinations showed that no violent marks were found on the victim's body.(01)
